You can't be serious

In Louisiana, the government can imprison an individual, in felony cases, up to 60 days (the ever useful legislature is trying to make it even longer) without even filing formal charges. Now, the supremely disfunctional Orleans Parish District Attorney's office has decided to let the Orleans Criminal Sheriff "randomly" select a small number of cases to be screened more quickly.

This is some kind of terrible joke, right? Never mind the Sheriff gets paid based on the number of inmates he houses. That's right, this guy. Great thinking, Ms. DA.

By the way, for more fun information on the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff, check out this report.
